Role Overview:
HRLeverage, the Workforce and Workspace service company with presence in over 8 African countries seeks a knowledgeable and resourceful Business Journalist to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and reporting on business, finance, economy, and corporate news. The successful candidate will cover a wide range of topics, including government policy, startups, markets, banking, oil & gas, tech, and trade.

Key Responsibilities:

•Monitor and report on developments in the Nigerian and global economy, including fiscal policy, inflation, exchange rates, investment trends, and capital markets.
•Interview key stakeholders, including business leaders, economists, entrepreneurs, government officials, and financial analysts.
•Develop original news stories, features, and analysis pieces relevant to the target readers.
•Attend press conferences, industry events, and briefings to gather insights and newsworthy content.
•Collaborate with editors, photojournalists, and multimedia teams to produce engaging and accurate content.
•Maintain a reliable network of sources within business and economic sectors.
•Write clean, well-structured stories under tight deadlines.
•Adhere to journalistic ethics and editorial guidelines.
•Stay updated on local and international business trends.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Economics, Business, Finance, Mass Communication, or related field.
•2–5 years of experience in business reporting (print, digital, or broadcast).
•Strong understanding of economic landscapes and key business sectors.
•Excellent writing, research, and interview skills.
•Ability to interpret data and financial statements.
•Familiarity with tools such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and other financial news platforms is an advantage.
•Multimedia or digital journalism experience is a plus.
