Finance and Accounting Manager – Job Description
About the Role
HRLeverage, the Pan-African workforce management company providing top-notch business solutions to SMEs and large organizations, is seeking an experienced Finance and Accounting Manager with proven experience in educational institutions. The Finance and Accounting Manager will oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounts controlling, and financial reporting for the school, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and accounting standards. In addition, the Finance Manager will be responsible for invoicing, receivables, and real-time ERP postings, supervise one experienced Accountant, and report directly to the Head of Administration.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Strategy
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the school, ensuring robust systems of financial control.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate financial records by documenting all transactions, processing invoices, and managing receipts.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accurate and timely payments and collections.
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Lead the annual budget preparation process in consultation with the Principal and Department Heads.
- Monitor expenditure against budget, report on variances, and recommend corrective measures.
- Manage the school’s cash flow, investment monitoring, and prepare regular forecasts.
- Provide financial analysis to management and the Board, including monthly finance updates to the Board Finance Committee.
Accounts Receivable & Invoicing
- Prepare and issue invoices for school fees, Speech Therapy, AGs, and other
- Monitor and record incoming payments in the accounting system (Hansa/ERP).
- Reconcile student and customer accounts on an ongoing
- Track and monitor the payment of fees, sending timely reminders to parents/guardians.
- Develop and implement effective fee collection procedures to minimize outstanding balances.
- Address and resolve parent and pupil queries regarding school fees and
- Provide regular reports on outstanding receivables and collections.
General Accounting & Systems
- Enter approved invoices and financial data into the ERP system on a real-time

Procurement & Expense Management
- Process purchase orders and vendor invoices, ensuring purchases are properly authorized and within budget.

- Ensure all financial transactions comply with Ghanaian financial regulations and international accounting standards.
- Manage statutory payments (e.g., VAT) and coordinate with Accountant for SSNIT & PAYE filings.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, preparing financial schedules and implementing recommendations.

Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead the finance team and collaborate with school leadership on financial

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or
- Professional Certifications (CIMA, CFA, CPA, ACCA)
- Strong knowledge of Ghana Tax and financial regulatory
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in finance management, preferably in an international organization or educational/non-profit setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks/Hansa) and advanced Microsoft
