Position Summary
HRLeverage is recruiting an experienced Business Manager for our client. This role is critical to driving business growth across Ghana and the ECOWAS/ECCAS region. The successful candidate will spearhead lead generation, manage key accounts, and ensure the profitable delivery of freight forwarding, haulage, and warehousing services. The ideal candidate is a commercially astute professional who thrives in competitive environments, understands cross-border trade, and can lead high-impact business strategies while managing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of freight, haulage, and warehousing services.
- Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies and SOPs to ensure efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage branch performance in line with KPIs, including service delivery, revenue, and profitability targets.
- Supervise the smooth execution of contracts from award to client handover.
- Coordinate across Business Units to deliver integrated solutions to customers.
- Support Finance with credit control, collections, and recovery of profit share from international partners.
- Conduct regular reviews of operational workflows to identify gaps and recommend process improvements.
Strategic & Commercial Responsibilities
- Support organizational strategy by driving operational excellence that fuels revenue growth.
- Contribute to business expansion through efficient delivery, quality service, and customer retention.
- Monitor market dynamics and align operational capabilities to emerging opportunities.
- Collaborate with Business Development in preparing and delivering bids, tenders, and proposals.
- Represent the company at trade events, exhibitions, and stakeholder engagements.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and motivate staff to deliver high-quality services and meet performance goals.
- Ensure proper training, knowledge transfer, and capacity building across teams.
- Foster collaboration, innovation, and accountability across departments.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (Kpis)
- Operational efficiency and adherence to KPIs across freight, haulage, and warehousing.
- Profitability and revenue contribution from operations.
- Customer retention rate and satisfaction levels (based on SLAs & SOPs).
- Timely response and quality of operational support for tenders, RFPs, and contracts.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration and staff development outcomes.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Professional Certification:
- Relevant membership/certification in Operations, Logistics, or Supply Chain (advantage).
Experience:
- 8+ years in operations management, logistics, or freight forwarding.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large-scale contracts.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Skilled in ERP and CRM tools.
- Strong knowledge of Incoterms, trade compliance, and global supply chain.
